Fiber Bundles

The best intuitive motivation can be found in Fiber Bundles and Quantum Theory by Herbert J. Bernstein and Anthony V. Phillips (Google for it).

Also great is Topological Charges in Gauge Theories by J. M. Leinaas

Why are they interesting?

Fibre bundles are the correct mathematical tool to describe the physics around magnetic monopoles, to describe global aspects of Yang-Mills fields (e.g. Instantons) and to describe gravity.

For a nice discussion of how fibre bundles are used in physics, see chapter 0 in Topology, Geometry and Gauge fields - Foundations by Naber
